A Dutch parachutist has to pass a theoretical exam in order to receive a jumping permit (except for the D-license). The subjects for these exams are: meteorology, Dutch rules and regulations, equipment and general questions. Furthermore, the parachutist has to perform a number of practical exercises.
A-license (A-brevet):
- 25 jumps
- 15 minutes of free-fall time
- all stability exercises (e.g. back loop, turns, tracking)
- performing 5 formation jumps with an instructor
- performing 10 landings within fifteen meters of the target centre
- spotting for him or herself
- packing the main canopy without supervision
- performing 5 jumps devoted to canopy control
B-license (B-brevet)
- 50 jumps
- 30 minutes of free-fall time
- performing 10 formation jumps with an instructor
- performing 10 landings within ten meters of the target centre
- a number of exercises in one of the disciplines (e.g. for formation skydiving a number of 4-ways and an 8-way)
- being able to check the gear for safety of use
- performing 5 jumps devoted to canopy control
C-license (C-brevet)
- 200 jumps
- 60 minutes of free-fall time
- 50 formation skydives
- performing 5 jumps devoted to canopy control
D-license (D-brevet)
- 500 jumps
- 3 hours of free-fall time
These licenses are in line with the FAI international certificates of proficiency (COP).
All licenses are only valid, together with a valid membership (geldig lidmaatschap) of the RNAA. Any license above B license (including instructor's licenses and equipment licenses) has to be renewed on a yearly basis. You can find the expiration date on the upper left hand corner, behind "date valid until".
