Dutch jumping permits

A Dutch parachutist has to pass a theoretical exam in order to receive a jumping permit (except for the D-license). The subjects for these exams are: meteorology, Dutch rules and regulations, equipment and general questions. Furthermore, the parachutist has to perform a number of practical exercises.

A-license (A-brevet):

  1. 25 jumps
  2. 15 minutes of free-fall time
  3. all stability exercises (e.g. back loop, turns, tracking)
  4. performing 5 formation jumps with an instructor
  5. performing 10 landings within fifteen meters of the target centre
  6. spotting for him or herself
  7. packing the main canopy without supervision
  8. performing 5 jumps devoted to canopy control

B-license (B-brevet)

  1. 50 jumps
  2. 30 minutes of free-fall time
  3. performing 10 formation jumps with an instructor
  4. performing 10 landings within ten meters of the target centre
  5. a number of exercises in one of the disciplines (e.g. for formation skydiving a number of 4-ways and an 8-way)
  6. being able to check the gear for safety of use
  7. performing 5 jumps devoted to canopy control

C-license (C-brevet)

  1. 200 jumps
  2. 60 minutes of free-fall time
  3. 50 formation skydives
  4. performing 5 jumps devoted to canopy control

D-license (D-brevet)

  1. 500 jumps
  2. 3 hours of free-fall time

These licenses are in line with the FAI international certificates of proficiency (COP).

All licenses are only valid, together with a valid membership (geldig lidmaatschap) of the RNAA. Any license above B license (including instructor's licenses and equipment licenses) has to be renewed on a yearly basis. You can find the expiration date on the upper left hand corner, behind "date valid until".
